College closing early due to threatening weather
Friday, May 31: Because of anticipated threatening weather, college officials have made the decision to close the campus at 5 p.m. today, said OCCC Police Officer Kevin Hammond.
In an email sent at 4:36 p.m., President Paul Sechrist said the following: “While the reports of the radar continue to show that there is no severe weather in the area at this time, the weather forecasters do indicate that the conditions are set for severe weather to be in the central Oklahoma area this evening. As a caution and for everyone’s safety, we have decided to close the campus at 5:00 p.m. today and cancel all activities that are scheduled beyond 5:00 or later this evening. Be careful leaving campus and be safe this evening.”
Hammond said the college will be locked up for the night and not open for shelter.
