Read MoreYet another Marvel classic leapt onto the big screen this past month. “Thor” hit theaters May 6, and the comic’s version of the god of thunder is taking the world by storm.
The epic flick, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Chris Hemsworth as the titular god, tells the story of the arrogant Norse thunder god Thor’s fall from grace when he goes against his father’s wishes.
His subsequent redemption and return to his place in Asgard, the Norse god’s home, forms the bulk of the movie.
The special effects in this film are incredible. The renderings of Asgard are breathtaking, sweeping panoramic views of a golden city in the clouds.
And the fight scenes are believable, with effects used judiciously enough that the audience never loses the suspension of disbelief.

Read MoreI went to the International Food Fair April 28 and the only way I can explain what I encountered was an explosion of exotic food, colors, and music. It was a cacophony of awesome.
The tuna stuffed jalapénos were sweet and delicious, with only a hint of spice. One of the vendors even admitted to crying because one of the dishes reminded them of their mother’s cooking.
The Moroccan couscous was great. The process of making couscous is very group oriented. You cannot eat it alone, according to them. It has to be eaten with friends or family. There’s even a special dish that is used to make it, which is very large.
Read MoreLike other long-standing indie labels such as SubPop, Touch and Go began as an underground music ’zine (or fanzine) that would go on to influence the cut ‘n’ paste, DIY punk and indie-rock aesthetic of ’zines and labels of the 1980s and 90s, before everything was digitized and blogged for instant consumption and gratification.
Penned in acid ink by Tesco Vee (later of The Meatmen, who just played The Conservatory) and Dave Stimson, Touch and Go set out to cover original punk and early new wave with wit, zeal, strong opinions, irreverent and often puerile humor, and keen intelligence.
Read MoreAnyone with a pulse who enjoys laughing out loud should seriously consider watching “Paul.”
This movie intertwines science fiction with brilliantly written comedic elements around nearly every turn.
This is the unlikely story of an alien on Earth named Paul, (voiced by Seth Rogan) who crashes on Earth 60 years earlier and has been in the hands of the U.S. government since.
Paul realizes his usefulness is nearing completion and understands the next option his captives are planning involves extracting his brain.
Needless to say Paul decides it’s time to hit the ground running. Paul stumbles upon a couple of U.K. nerdy comic book fanatics, (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost) traveling across the U.S., visiting comic book conventions on a once-in-a-lifetime road trip. After this trio becomes acquainted they soon begin traveling across the heartland of the America.

Read MoreThis past Sunday night in a tiny bar called the Drunken Fry, a woman yelled vulgarities, cracked Jew jokes, and brandished a full-sized sword at a crowd of people.
But don’t call the police just yet. The woman is the Amazing Boobzilla, a comedienne and sideshow performer. And it’s all part of the show.
Part of the Carnival of Cleavage, an all-female vaudeville troupe, Boobzilla bills her act as “the worst show you will ever see.”

Read MoreLast week some teams fought for playoff spots and others looked to go home on a good note, yet the final game of the NBA regular season versus the Milwaukee Bucks was a time of rest for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In a game where superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook only played 23 and 21 minutes respectively, resting the starters for the playoffs seemed to be coach Scott Brooks’s main focus as opposed to winning the regular season finale.
Despite limited playing time, Westbrook managed to rack up 20 points as Durant ended the season as the league’s scoring champion for the second year in a row.
