There’s more to life than Oklahoma

A lot of people get mad at me when I say I can’t stand living in Oklahoma. They tell me Oklahoma is great: it has a low cost of living, nice people and there is a lot to do. I have to disagree.

Being someone who has lived in Oklahoma my entire life, I have yet to see what is so appealing about it. Yes, maybe some of the above mentioned statements are true but Oklahoma is just not my cup of tea.

Being open helps us step outside our comfort zones

We all know at least one person who insists he or she doesn’t like a handful of things: a certain kind of music, some brand of international cuisine, a movie or television show. Of course, we’re only human so none of us like everything all the time — that’s the beauty of variety, and the ability to choose — but I’m sure we’ve all known people who make that type of claim only to find out they’ve never actually listened to a song they claim to hate, eat some kind of food they claim to abhor or watch a movie they think sucks.

Rolling Stone magazine justified in ‘Dzhokhar’ cover

Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson – what do all of these men have in common? Despite their normal appearances and lifestyles, all of these men are murderers. These men aren’t the only ones, either – the list of individuals who appear like completely innocent, normal people but commit heinous crimes like these is extremely long.

You yourself have thought “That is the most useless invention for a phone that you can’t delete,” next to the volume levels. Because, who sets their volume on three dots? Either you turn it on silent or all the way up. So really, all there should be is silent and on for volumes on phones.

Knowledge is power

Many of us have heard the statement “ignorance is bliss.” I would like to refute that statement and say no, it is not.

That supposed bliss will be gone the minute cold hard reality becomes known.

I personally think if I am aware of a situation, I can plan and act accordingly. If I am unaware of it, when the situation comes to light, it’s like a hit in the face.

Mothers’ bodies nothing to be ashamed of

Today I would like to blog about — wait for it — stretch marks. No, you did not read that wrong.

As a mother of two, I have my fair share of stretch marks decorating my body. Many times at baby showers or during the summer I hear mothers lamenting these marks — “I can’t wear my bikini anymore or my stomach is gross now.”

I would like to spin a different view of these scars.
