Severe weather seminars to begin April 1

In preparation for the upcoming spring season, OCCC will host a severe weather drill from 10:40 to 10:50 a.m. and from 7:45 to 7:55 p.m Tuesday, April 8, said Marlene Shugart, Emergency Planning and Risk Management director.

“This drill is to make sure that students are aware of where the safer area locations are around the campus,” Shugart said.

Employees and students are expected to participate in the drill at those times.

“When the campus is directly affected by a coming storm, employees and students will be directed to the safer areas around the campus,” Shugart said.

“Students should always be aware of the weather and the severe weather policies here at OCCC.”

“These seminars we are holding is to promote awareness and make sure people are prepared for severe weather.”

The next severe weather seminar is from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in CU rooms 1 and 2.
