Nursing pinning ceremony to be held May 10

It’s official.

On Thursday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. OCCC nursing graduates will be getting their nursing pins at Crossroads Church in Oklahoma City. This ceremony will not be on the OCCC campus due to another event being held there.

Nursing Professor Heather Worden said this event holds solemn meaning to the students.

“During the pinning ceremony, nursing faculty members symbolically welcome the newly graduated nursing candidates into the profession by presenting them with a nursing pin,” she said.

President Paul Sechrist, Vice President Felix Aquino, and nursing Professor Michaele Cole will be speaking at the ceremony.

The 65 graduates who will be accepting the pins are all a part of the Nursing Traditional Pathway program.

Once the program requirements are completed, the students will earn an associate degree in nursing, which qualifies them to take the national licensure exam to work as registered nurses.

A reception will follow the ceremony.
