Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Student Organization meeting May 6
OCCC has a newly formed student organization called the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Student Organization. Vanessa Jackson, Media Manager, said the organization is committed to “providing the highest quality speech, language and hearing services to our local, national and global communities.”
Membership is open to anyone interested in promoting speech and communication health through education, community awareness, and speech and hearing screenings. Jackson said.
“The SLPA Student Organization offers members the opportunity to meet legislative and philanthropic leaders, learn more about communication and speech disorders, and participate in service projects that impact the local community.
“You do not have to have SLPA as a major to be a part of this exciting group.”
The SLPA Student Organization will sponsor the “Better Speech and Hearing Month Celebration” from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 6.
“Our free hearing screening will be in the Oklahoma Room at the east side of the cafeteria,” Jackson said.
She said along with the screenings, the SLPA Organization will have a bake sale, T-shirts available for purchase and a gift basket that will to be raffled.
“So come by, support our new organization and receive a free hearing screening.”
