Volunteers needed for Color Run
Last year, around 55 OCCC students did something out of the ordinary — they threw colored paint at runners in the annual Color Run. For the third year in a row, students can volunteer to help at the OKC Zoo Color Run Service Day from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 at the Oklahoma City Zoo.
Kendra Fringer, Student Life coordinator, said the OKC Zoo Color Run serves as a fundraiser for the zoo, and students are invited to help with various tasks at the event.
“At the moment, we haven’t been given our specific tasks, but in the past, they’ve helped with things such as: getting volunteers registered, throwing color at the runners as they come through, helping set up, clean up, that sort of stuff.
“They really help with the function of the event and encourage the runners and the participants in the walk at different places and cheer and do signs and stuff like that,” she said.
Unlike other service trips, transportation will not be provided, Fringer said. All volunteers will meet at the zoo, at located at 2101 NE 50th St in Oklahoma City.
Around 37 students have already signed up and because there is not a cap for volunteers, Fringer said students can still sign up online.
“It’s open. As many as people as we can take with us, we’d love to have.”
