This summer, OCCC will offer high school students graduating in 2014, who have already taken concurrent classes at OCCC, free tuition for up to three college credit hours, said Jon Horinek, Recruitment and Admissions director.

Each year, over 1,000 high school juniors and seniors take concurrent courses at OCCC, Horinek said.

This allows students to earn college credits while still in high school.

“We love our concurrent students at OCCC,” he said.

“These students are well prepared and many of them have already accumulated the credits that will put them far ahead of other college freshman and may allow them to graduate faster at their home institution.”

Students who are eligible for the program must have taken courses at OCCC for credit as a junior or senior in high school, must complete a brief application and provide a final high school transcript.

“This program allows students to keep the momentum going while saving money,” Horinek said.

Students do not need to complete a new application for admissions, but the deadline for participation in the program is May 23, 2014.
