Drivers should be more considerate
When in traffic I often ask myself, “Why do people drive like inconsiderate jerks?”
I’m generally a very easy going person, but many instances of blatant disrespect for others sharing the streets drive me into a profanity-spewing rage.
Turners and lane changers not using turn signals, inpatients tempting t-bones by pulling out in front of traffic, idiots cutting others off and abruptly turning, slow drivers cruising 10 miles an hour under the speed limit in the passing lane, drivers rudely tailgating others they feel aren’t driving quite fast enough, and many other annoyances frequently occur on the roadways of Oklahoma.
I admittedly drive a little over the speed limit from time to time, but always remain mindful of other drivers. I can honestly say I never practice the above mentioned inconsiderate acts, and I wish others had the same amount of respect on the road.
All I ask, is that when you drive, please be more considerate, and use your freakin’ turn signals for crying out loud. I mean, the lever is right there; you don’t even have to remove your hand from the steering wheel.
In the end, I think it all boils down to the prevailing lack of respect for one another that plagues many aspects of our society. I think laziness could also be a big factor. Add the American competitive spirit to the mix, and we’ve got volatile roadways full of jerks. Is it really any wonder that so many people experience road rage?
