Engineering students who are interested in working at Tinker Air Force Base can ask questions and get a closer look at the base at Shadow Day, a day for students to job-shadow Tinker employees, said Employment Coordinator Christina Atencio.

Atencio said OCCC will provide box lunches as a group visits the base from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.

“They will get a tour of the facility, they’ll get to meet engineers that are working,” she said. “They will demonstrate some of the equipment they use and how it pertains to engineering.”

She said last time they visited the base for Shadow Day, students had a great question and answer session with supervisors from various departments. They also got to step onto a plane that was being remodeled.

“We had one student say it was like going to Disneyland — he didn’t want to leave,” Atencio said.

Transportation will be provided and participants will meet at the Graduation, Employment and Transfer Office at 11 a.m.

Students who would like to attend Shadow Day must register by Monday, Oct. 19 and can do so by calling Atencio at 405-682-7519 or by email at employmentservices@occc.edu.
