Organizers have canceled the panel of Oklahoma authors scheduled for this Thursday, Feb. 10, said Professor Bertha Wise in an e-mail sent Monday.

Two panel discussions by contemporary Oklahoma writers are scheduled this semester at the Ronald J. Norick Library at 300 Park Ave. in Downtown Oklahoma City.

The first of panel, on prose writers, has been canceled due to a looming threat of winter weather.

“With the winter weather warnings that have been issued, we thought it best to cancel now,” Wise said.

Authors Rilla Askew, Tim Tingle, and Marcia Preston were among the writers scheduled to attend the event, which would have been held from 6:30 to 8 p.m Thursday.

Wise said she is working with Gus Pekara, Oklahoma City Downtown College director, on rescheduling the event.

The second panel, Oklahoma poets, is scheduled for March 3.
