Glitter Ball 2021

The film industry in Oklahoma is one of the fastest-growing industries in the state with new studios, productions, and job opportunities opening around every corner. One of these fine local programs is deadCenterdeadCenter “exists to inspire, promote, and celebrate creativity and community through film,” according to their website. deadCenter achieves these goals through their yearly film festival in June as well as workshops and educational programs for up-and-coming filmmakers.

Oklahoma City Community College’s Digital Cinema Production program students or any students over twenty-one with a passion for film can support deadCenter, by supporting the yearly Glitter Ball.

The Glitter Ball is a yearly fundraiser through which people can help fund deadCenter’s programs that take place throughout the year. It is a night of fun and entertainment at the historical Tower Theater in Oklahoma City. This year’s Glitter Ball also serves to honor Kindt Steven Myers, vice president of HumanKind Hospitality, as well as event producer of the deadCenter film festival.

This year’s Glitter Ball theme is dC High. The deadCenter‘s event page describes this theme as  “Playing on everything high school and homecoming so dress to impress.”

Attendees can look to films like “Carrie,” “Pretty in Pink,” “The Breakfast Club,” and “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” for inspiration.

If you’re looking for a way to help support Oklahoma filmmaking and a great night out, the Glitter Ball will be held on Saturday, November 6th at the Tower Theater, located at 425 NW 23rd St in Oklahoma City from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Attendees will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID test within 48 hours of the event to be admitted. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit deadcenterfilm.org/glitterball.
