More than 100 employers on campus March 7

More than 100 employers will be looking for workers at the annual Spring Job Fair on campus Wednesday, March 7.

For general employers, the doors will open at 10 a.m. and stay open until 2 p.m. in the College Union.

A separate job fair for workers in the health and medical fields will run from noon to 6 p.m. in the union.

Hosted by Student Employment and Career Services, the job fairs are open to students as well as the general public.

Debra Vaughn, director of Student Employment and Career Services, set a goal of 100 employers to attend the fair.

“Each year we have increased our number of employers,” she said.

Some of the “who’s who” of employers: For general employment, KFOR / KAUT TV, Fox 25 and CW34; Francis Tuttle Technology Center; Frito-Lay, Inc.; Gary E. Miller Canadian County Children’s Justice Center; Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and many more.

Health employers include Muskogee Regional Hospital; Norman Regional Health System; Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services; Sooner Medical Staffing; Southern Nazarene University; Southwestern Medical Center; St. Anthony Hospital and Stillwater Medical Center.

The OCCC job fair has opened many doors for numerous people each year, Vaughn said.

“As a community college, that’s our mission: to serve our students and our community,” she said.

The OCCC Student Employment and Career Services Guide gives job seekers insight to resume development, attire, interviews and etiquette.

This guide along with a complete list of employers can be found in the Student Employment and Career Services Department in the main building on campus.
