OCCC to conduct sexual assault survey
OCCC is conducting a voluntary campus safety survey regarding sexual assault and sexual misconduct beginning Monday, Nov. 24, said General Counsel Nancy Gerrity.
The survey seeks to aggregate information regarding sexual misconduct on OCCC’s campus, Gerrity said. She said the survey is completely anonymous.
A link to the survey will be sent to students’ OCCC emails on Nov. 24, Gerrity said, and will remain active for two weeks, until Monday, Dec. 8.
Gerrity said it’s important students participate in the survey so OCCC officials can be more informed of the sexual climate on campus.
“Sexual assault is a huge problem on college campuses and universities,” Gerrity said.
“Twenty percent of women are sexually assaulted and five percent of men are sexually assaulted during their time as an undergraduate student,” she said.
“What we’d like to do is find out what the actual scope of the problem at OCCC, since we lack student living accommodations and alcohol around campus.”
