‘A Thousand Cranes’ coming to campus
The Eckerd Theater Company, is scheduled to perform the children’s piece “A Thousand Cranes,” at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on April 4 in OCCC’s Bruce Owen Theater.
According to an email from Director of Cultural Programs Lemuel Bardeguez, the Eckerd Theater Company is “a professional touring family and children’s theater company.”
“The play, based on Eleanor Coerr’s children’s book ‘Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes,’ tells the true story of Sadako Sasaki, a 12-year-old girl in Hiroshima who became ill with radiation poisoning after the atomic bomb was dropped on her town, and of how her spirit of hope and strength continues to inspire young people the world over to work for peace,” Bardeguez’s email said.
Bardeguez said that the play is best suited for adults and children in fourth through eighth grades.
Admission is $5 per person, and exact change is requested.
