Campus remembers victims of domestic violence

Student Life and Student Support Services set up cardboard cutouts throughout the Main Building on Oct. 22, of people who were killed because of domestic violence.

The cutouts are part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the “witnesses” show the names and brief records of how and by whom they were killed.

Counselor Jenna Howard spoke about the importance of the Silent Witnesses program.

Howard said it’s important that students know about the witnesses, and who they represent.

Every figure represents a life lost because of the actions of a loved one, and students need to know that domestic violence is still a problem that should be worried about, she said.

Howard said there are OCCC students dealing with domestic violence in the home.
