National Weather Service declares OCCC ‘StormReady’
Living in Oklahoma comes with living with Oklahoman weather.
Because of the school’s performance, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has recognized OCCC as a StormReady school as of Thursday, April 5.
According to the National Weather Service’s website, “NWS designed StormReady to help communities better prepare for and mitigate effects of extreme weather-related events.”
According to a StormReady flier available at www.occc.edu, OCCC applied for this status on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and the recognition will be valid for three years
The flyer goes on to state that OCCC has taken extra precautions for weather emergencies, and is better prepared to save lives.
