Sexual Health lecture to focus on preventive measures
About one in four people are currently infected with human papillomavirus in the U.S., according to the Center for Disease Control. Half of all new sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) occur under age 25.
Nursing Professor Jennifer Peters will discuss how to prevent contracting STDs at a Sexual Health Brown Bag lecture at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, in 1H8 in the Social Sciences building.
“We’ll mainly be covering STDs,” Peters said. “We’re going to talk about early intervention and prevention.”
The workshop will focus on human papillomavirus (HPV), gonorrhea, herpes and syphilis. Peters said they also will discuss the HPV vaccine and issues that can arise from STDs.
