Student Life plans alcohol awareness week

“Alcohol Awareness” is the theme of the upcoming week said Student Life Assistant Director Amy Reynolds.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, a handful of activities will take place in CU1.

“An obstacle course will be one of the games set up, along with actual beer goggles that show what impairment is like at certain alcohol levels,” Reynolds said.

“This will help students understand its effect on their mentality.”

In addition, a related Brown Bag will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, also in CU1.

Reynolds said Nursing Professor Jacqueline Frock will be the session’s presenter.

“On any college campus, there is alcohol abuse,” she said. “This will help inform students of its dangers and negative effects.”

This is a yearly session that typically occurs the week before Spring Break, Reynolds said.

“Students have a lot of free time then, so it’s just a reminder.”

Reynolds said both days are to be interactive and educating.
