Review: Revamped Coffee Shop offers OCCC more to love
The Pioneer crew recently went to check out the newly opened coffee shop on campus.
Formerly operated by Consolidated, it’s now run by OCCC alum Murod Mamatov.
Ida: It looks mostly the same. The “We proudly serve Starbucks’’ sign has been put away, but the shop again offers a wide variety of options.
Fluffy pastries surround the cash register, along with savory lunch items.
Judah: The hot chocolate I ordered was a good temperature. The sleeve they used kept it from getting too hot to hold, unlike the old shop. The chocolate flavor wasn’t quite strong enough for my taste; 8 out of 10.
Venae: My go-to is always a caramel macchiato and the only notable difference between it and others I had is the bitterness. This one had a stronger coffee flavor, but it didn’t bother me.
The pastries are delicious, especially their blueberry scones. It’ll be extremely hard not to grab one every time I walk by.
It seems to me they have more food options than the Starbucks. It’s a great little spot to grab coffee before class or a quick bite without having to leave campus.
Miranda: The prices are cheaper than it was with the Starbucks shop: a full dollar cheaper on the majority of the items.
I ordered an iced caramel macchiato. It was more bitter than it was with Starbucks, but still good and drinkable.
Overall, we gave the shop a solid 7 out of 10. Cheaper drinks and more food; what’s not to love?
