Professional Development Institute offering hazardous waste options and emergency response training

OCCC’s Professional Development Institute is offering a Hazardous Waste Options and Emergency Response certification course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 15 through Friday, Sept. 19, said PDI Account Executive John Claybon.

The cost is $285 per participant, Claybon said, which includes the 40 instruction hours and class materials.

The course will take place at the Professional Development Institute located at 7124 I-35 Service Road in Oklahoma City, he said.

“It’s the initial class that is necessary when people want to be HAZWOPER certified,” Claybon said.

“Municipalities, government entities — jobs that deal with waste water and water resources — would probably need it.

Companies dealing with hazardous chemicals or hazardous materials — anyone who’s going to be exposed to potential hazards — would need this training.”

HAZWOPER “applies to … distinct groups of employers and their employees — including any employees who are exposed or can be potentially exposed to hazardous substances such as hazardous waste,” according to the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration website.

To register for the HAZWOPER certification course, call Claybon at 405-682-7562 or visit http://www.campusce.net/occc/course/course.aspx?C=848&pc=55&mc=&sc.
