Man taken into custody

OCCC – 3:45 p.m. Oct. 11 – An unidentified man has been taken into police custody that campus police said fits the description of a man with a gun.

According to a statement by OCCC Police Chief James Fitzpatrick, the man was spotted on a nearby highway by a woman who claims she saw the suspect driving with a “clearly visible” gun.

 

The woman told Oklahoma City police she followed the man, who made his way towards the OCCC Campus, and alerted the Oklahoma City Police by phone. The city then alerted OCCC Campus Safety and Security who tracked down the man via security camera.

Campus police followed the man to the Visual and Performing Arts Center where he was found in room 108. The suspect was immediately told to get on the ground. The man did not have any firearms but a pellet gun was found.

The man was escorted out of the VPAC by campus police and sent to Student Support Services.
