The Ten Tenors show, Love is in the Air, will start at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25.
“They are an all-male tenor voice obviously from Australia. They’ve been there other this is their 25th anniversary tour,” OCCC Box Office Manager Ben Williams told the Pioneer.
Williams said the tour presents a return for the Aussies who were locked down for the bulk of the pandemic.
“They’ve been off for two years. So, they started back this past week in California, and they’re making their way here over the next week. They’ll be in Bernie, Texas the night before they come here on Friday.”
The show will be held at the OCCC Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater located at 7777 S May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159.
Williams said of the group, “they are internationally renowned. Over 90 million people have seen them all over the world.”
He said he is excited for the group to come
“Very excited. I’ve known about them for years,” Williams said.
Williams said he “had a conflict” the last time the group was in town as was unable to attend ht show.
“So, I’m very excited. This is a big deal, especially after Covid,” he said. “Having a touring group, not only a touring group to tour after COVID or during COVID I guess, but an internationally renowned group to come to Oklahoma city. It’s fabulous.”
On their website (thetentenors.com), the Ten Tenors note that they have toured nationally and released 15 albums and four CDs.
The Ten Tenors are Cameron Barclay, Daniel Belle, Michael Edwards, Nigel Huckle, Adrian Li Donnie, Sebastian Maclaine, Jarad Newell, Boyd Owen, Riley Sutton, and Grady Swithenbank.
They keep themselves busy throughout the year with continual touring including at least a show going two to three times a week, going from Texas going all the way to Brazil, and of course their native Australia.
The Ten Tenors began in 1995, they all became a group in Australia.
“Their signature brand of music featuring 10-part harmonies has been enjoyed by more than 90-million people,” the Ten Tenors website reads.
They have put on more than 2,000 concerts all over the world and have sold over 3.5 million tickets to those concerts.
They are known for their “renowned for their dynamic, choreographed performances and skillful ability to seamlessly transition from operatic arias to soulful ballads through to chart-topping pop and rock songs.”
The Ten Tenors have shared the stage with many other stars, like Lionel Richie, Rob Stewart and Willie Nelson.
They have appeared on TV shows like the Today Show and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Also, on the group’s homepage they offer merchandise from tote bags, iPhone cases, shirts, hoodies and face masks.
Love is in the Air by the the Ten Tenors is just one show the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) is offering throughout the year.
There are many things that the VPAC offers.
“We have concerts that are touring, Broadway shows that are touring, plays that are touring. We book six to 10 shows per year ourselves,” Williams said.
The auditorium has been open since 2014. Since then they have hosted over 100 shows.
