College for Kids progressing smoothly, director says

This summer’s College for Kids and Teens program is progressing smoothly, said Jessica Martinez-Brooks, Community Outreach and Education director.

College for Kids and Teens is a summer program created by OCCC to give children and teens something educational and fun to do during the summer.

“We are receiving positive feedback from parents on the College for Kids and Teens program,” Martinez-Brooks said. “The children seem to be enjoying the classes.”

She said the program tries to be affordable for parents, especially those who work at and attend OCCC.

“If people are having issues paying for classes, College for Kids program will try to work out a payment plan,” Martinez-Brooks said.

For the month of June, she said OCCC partnered with John Glenn Elementary to provide free lunches for the students.

College for Kids is for children in first through sixth grade and College for Teens is for grades seven through eight.

The program offers a variety of classes, such as dance, drawing, 3D geometry and more.
