Search process for new president starts

After much discussion, the OCCC Board of Regents decided the search for the college’s next president will start first within the walls of the college.

 

If a suitable candidate is not found there, the search will go nationwide.

Regents voted 6 to 1 to approve the process to be used in selecting the next OCCC president during a special session  Nov. 18, at Frontier State Bank in Oklahoma City.

The dissenting vote was cast by Regent Helen Camey.

Campus maps being upgraded, improved

Having trouble finding your way around campus —even after downloading campus maps from the OCCC website? Web Development Supervisor John Richardson said that is about to change.

“We’ve recognized that the maps on our website leave a lot to be desired. They’re very rudimentary renderings of the various buildings on campus. It just isn’t the type of experience the people need with a relatively large campus like ours.”

Richardson said his team has spent a good amount of time looking at different products to use for mapping the campus. “We have been trying to earmark funds for a couple of years now and find the product that really does the type of job that we think our guests on our campus deserve,” he said.

Students offered free Office 365 app

All OCCC students can now get access to Microsoft Office applications by accessing Office 365, offered free via their email accounts, said IT Infrastructure Director Rob Greggs.

Greggs said, by selecting the Microsoft OneDrive tab on the upper right corner of the email page, students can access applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

“It provides Office applications that the students are familiar with and more than likely have used in their academic or professional career,” he said. “It provides all of those applications at no cost, because of their student status at the college.
