Caring Van at FACE Center Oct. 8

The Oklahoma Caring Van will be offering free immunizations and flu shots for children from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Family and Community Education Center at OCCC. The facility is located about one mile north of campus at 6500 Land Ave.

The event is open to the public.

“Services are provided at no charge to children who are uninsured, Medicaid eligible, or American Indian,” said Lee Ann Townsend, lab supervisor for the college’s Child Development Center and Lab School at the FACE Center.

The Oklahoma Caring Vans are funded by community contributions and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma.

“The mobile clinics provide immunizations for children 6 weeks through 18 years old,” said Yessenia Sanchez clinic coordinator with the Health Care Services Corporation.

A parent or legal guardian must be present to complete paperwork.

The Caring Vans provide all immunizations required by Oklahoma law for enrollment in schools or child care.
