Business boot camps to be held on campus tomorrow

There are a variety of free workshops available for business majors this semester at OCCC. The workshops are separated into two programs, the Entrepreneurship Boot Camp and the Investment Boot Camp.

The Center for International Business is providing workshops such as these for students interested in learning more about business practices.

The next workshop available is the Investment Boot Camp is coming up from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in Room 2R0 in the Business Lab.

The Investment Boot Camp will cover the basics of investment portfolio management. It is an expansion of an investment game that the Center for International Business has been holding for the last four semesters.

Department Chair of International Business, Germain Pichop said that, “These workshops are free and open to anyone,” said Germain Pichop, department chair of International Business.

Although these workshops have started already, it is not too late to attend, Pichop said. Sponsored by the OCCC campus group, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), these workshops are meant for those students interested in complementing the knowledge they have learned inside classrooms.

The next meeting for the Entrepreneurship Boot Camp will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 in the Business Lab. This meeting will cover Business Planning Basics and is open to anyone in the OCCC community.

The Entrepreneurship Boot Camp takes the information students have learned in the classroom and puts it into more practical situations, according to SIFE.

It also teaches students to acquire financial understanding in a practical situation. Students may attend this workshop with or without knowledge of investments.
