Auditions for “Twelfth Night” Aug. 21 and 22

The theater department is hosting a casting call for the Shakespearean gender bender “Twelfth Night” from 7 to 10 p.m., Aug. 21 and Aug. 22, in the Bruce Owen Theater.

According to theater professor, Brent Noel, no positions have been filled as of yet.

Noel said he seeks 11 men and 3 women to fill the various roles in the production. Applicants do not need to be theater majors or OCCC students, but should be dressed to move and prepare to read from the text, he said.

“As actors, learning to perform Shakespeare is a good way to take it out of the mothballs of a museum piece,” Noel said.

“So many times we read Shakespeare and it doesn’t really come across as we’re just reading it but when we act it, it fills it with life and you get to see how the actions of people 400 years ago are very similar to the actions of people today,” he said.
